Palm Beach Atlantic Adds Retired Dr Pepper Businessman to Board

WEST PALM BEACH, FLORIDA – Palm Beach Atlantic University has named James J. “Jim” Johnston to its Board of Trustees.

Johnston was president of beverage concentrates and Latin American Beverages for Dr Pepper Snapple Group. During nearly three decades with the company, he has held numerous leadership positions in sales, strategy, licensing and field marketing. Additionally, he has served on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of the American Beverage Association.

Previously, he was director of client services with Information Resources, Inc. in Darien, Connecticut. He held a number of positions of increasing responsibility in sales and marketing for New York 7UP Bottling Company and its predecessor, Joyce Beverages, Inc.

Johnston is a native of Larchmont, New York. He earned his bachelor’s degree in history from Providence College. He enjoys boating/sailing, reading and travel. Recently retired, Johnston and his wife, Kate, live in Stuart, Florida, and have three adult daughters, Lauren, Katie and Meghan. Johnston and his wife are affiliated with St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Stuart, Florida, and St. Mary’s Star of the Sea in Narragansett, Rhode Island.
