NEW MEN’S BOUTIQUE A DAPPER ADDITION TO REDESIGN AT DOWNTOWN PALM BEACH GARDENS
Set to open this fall, Marcello Sport will be Downtown’s first, men’s-only clothing store

(Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.) – As Downtown Palm Beach Gardens continues to re-envision the eat, live and lounge areas of its property, the lifestyle shopping center is adding its first men’s-only clothing boutique. Marcello Sport is set to open in October 2021. The 1,307 square-foot store will be positioned between Bike Boutique by Villain and Couture Optique, in Suite 3105 at Downtown.

Marcello Sport is a unique designer of superior men’s apparel including resort wear, business, casual, swimwear and accessories including shoes, cufflinks and belts. This will be the fourth store for Marcello Sport with other locations in Boca Raton, Fort Lauderdale and Sarasota.

“Downtown Palm Beach Gardens has the look, feel and clientele we were looking for in a north county location,” said Michael Apel, owner of Marcello Sport. “As we expand our storefront offerings, we know that the mix of tenants here will draw shoppers who can appreciate our distinct clothing and accessories, specifically designed with attention to detail. We offer high quality, upscale fashion items as well as design many of our signature items and use only the finest quality European fabrics and workmanship. Our mission is to provide the best quality fashion merchandise, coupled with outstanding customer service.”

As more and more tenants join Downtown Palm Beach Gardens’ mix of locally owned boutiques and upscale anchor stores, the outdoor lifestyle center is in full swing with phase one of its redesign. Construction underway includes updates to the common areas with new art panels, landscaping, sculptural seating and swings. Storefronts and exterior areas are currently getting new awnings, colorful tiles, updated paint colors, French doors, specialty lighting, tropical landscaping, botanical sculptures and fun new furnishings. The first phase of construction is on target for an early summer completion.

“Now more than ever, customers are favoring to shop and socialize in outdoor shopping centers and tenants are prioritizing outdoor locations when looking to expand or launch a brand,” said Nina Rogers, Vice President of Leasing & Specialty Centers for ShopCore Properties. “As we navigate through this pandemic, we continue to look for ways to  make the property more inviting, relaxing and safe for our shoppers. Adding new tenants like Marcello Sport elevates our offerings as we reimagine and update Downtown Palm Beach Gardens. We can’t wait to debut the new look this summer.”

In addition, the beloved carousel is getting a new waterfront home. The foundation for the ride has been laid on the east side of the plaza and a restored new ride will be debuted by the lakefront late this spring. The carousel, which was originally installed in November 2010 and disassembled in August 2020 to be refurbished, is a one-of-a-kind design that was custom created for Downtown to reflect the tropical atmosphere of South Florida. The menagerie of animals contains 27 distinctive pieces that include Florida wildlife such as alligators, manatees, pelicans and dolphins as well as the typical carousel horses.

Other tenant updates include an expanded location for Lickstein Plastic Surgery Medical Spa. Set to open later this fall, the medical spa will move from its temporary location in Suite 1105 to a permanent 1,686 square-foot unit in Suite 3110. Subculture Coffee, launched in 2014 by two Palm Beach County businessmen, Rodney Mayo and Sean Scott, will open late summer near Downtown’s south valet entrance, next to Voodoo Bayou. It will offer small-batch roasted coffee, curated beer and wine selections, hot and cold sandwiches, salads and acai bowls in settings that evoke a cozy living room.
