Deborah Strainge, Head of School at St. Mark’s Episcopal School in Palm Beach Gardens, was elected to the Florida Council of Independent Schools’ (FCIS) Board of Directors at its virtual annual meeting on November 5, 2020. The board consists of five officers and twelve directors elected by their peers.
“We are fortunate to have Deborah Strainge as a member of our FCIS Board,” said FCIS Executive Director Barbara H. Hodges, Ed.D. “This confirms her standing as a valued member of the Florida family of independent school leaders, and we look forward to working with her on the Board.” As part of Strainge’s new leadership responsibilities, she will serve on accreditation visitation teams during the school year and participate on board committees.
Strainge was appointed as St. Mark’s Head of School in November 2015. She came to St. Mark’s from the Tower School in Marblehead, Massachusetts, where she served as a teacher and administrator for 28 years. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Fitchburg State College and a master’s degree from Salem State College.
Established in 1954, the mission of FCIS is to promote the highest standards for PK-12 education through its accreditation process, professional development programming, and advocacy efforts.
