The Busch Wildlife Sanctuary celebrated its 7th Annual Wine in the Wild fundraising event on Saturday, January 24, an enchanting evening under the stars at the nonprofit’s Jupiter Farms campus filled with craft cocktails, savory snacks, a live and silent auction, and meet-and-greets with the organization’s animal ambassadors who call the Sanctuary home.
Over 350 dedicated donors & Sanctuary newcomers gathered at the facility, strolling the Sanctuary’s paved nature trails and enjoying over a dozen food & beverage stations along the path.
From imported wines – including a malbec rosé from Pulenta Estate in Argentina and a cabernet sauvignon from Arboleda Wines in Chile – and craft beers to specialty cocktails such as the Palm Beach Spritz, featuring the locally-owned Munyon’s Paw-Paw Premium Florida Liqueur, the stations were paired with small bites such as roasted chicken salad crostini; mini beef, mushroom & caramelized onion empanadas; and red wine-braised short rib on polenta cakes.
An enticing live & silent auction featured desirable items and experiences such as signed memorabilia from Bruce Springsteen, Jack Nicholson, and the Beatles; packages to enjoy local businesses including Tiki Taxi & Cruises, Stormhouse Brewing, Little Moir’s Food Shack, and more; and even vacation packages including a seven-night getaway in Dubrovnik, Croatia, with unforgettable excursions.
The night ended with an inspiring message from Chief Executive Officer Amy Kight, who highlighted how far the organization has come since established in 1983, the incomparable medical care it provides to native wildlife – including emergency blood transfusions and falconry flight reconditioning – and, most importantly, educational programming that inspires the next generation of environmental stewards.
“None of this work would be possible without the unwavering generosity of our donors. Their support not only allows us to provide lifesaving medical care to our native wildlife but also fuels the continued growth and transformation of Busch Wildlife Sanctuary,” Kight said, alluding to the incredible medical advancements made in the last year, including the addition of a state-of-the-art CT machine, blood analysis panel, and the construction of South Florida’s largest rehabilitation flight enclosure.
“For more than 40 years, our mission has been sustained by people who care deeply about protecting Florida’s native wildlife, and I am profoundly grateful to each donor who makes this work possible.”
The 7th annual Wine in the Wild was the nonprofit’s most successful yet, raising over $300,000, with all proceeds directly benefiting Busch Wildlife Sanctuary’s mission.
The organization has been a staple in the community since 1983, providing lifesaving care to thousands of sick, injured, and orphaned wild animals annually and invaluable environmental education to residents of all ages. For more information, visit www.buschwildlife.org
