Position Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Development Officer to join our team. The Development Officer will be responsible for managing and growing the organization’s fundraising efforts. This role involves cultivating relationships with donors, securing major gifts, grants, and sponsorships, as well as developing and implementing strategies to raise funds and increase awareness for the organization’s mission. The ideal candidate will be a proactive, creative, and detail-oriented professional with a passion for nonprofit work.

This role involves cultivating relationships with donors, securing major gifts, grants, and sponsorships, as well as developing and implementing strategies to raise funds and increase awareness for the organization’s mission. The ideal candidate will be a proactive, creative, and detail-oriented professional with a passion for nonprofit work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fundraising Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy that includes individual giving, corporate partnerships, grant writing, and special events to meet annual revenue goals.
- Donor Relations: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with new and existing donors, including individuals, corporations, foundations, and government entities. Ensure regular, meaningful communication with donors.
- Grant Writing: Work with our grant writer to research and identify potential funding opportunities, write compelling grant proposals, and manage the submission process. Follow up on grants to ensure timely reporting and compliance.
- Event Planning: Lead the planning and execution of annual fundraising event- Soiree for Seagrass, including silent/live auctions, and community outreach activities. Coordinate logistics, outreach, sponsorship, and post-event follow-up.
- Database Management: Maintain accurate records of donor contributions, track fundraising progress, and analyze data to inform future strategies using a donor management system (e.g., Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce).
- Marketing & Communication: Collaborate with the marketing and communications team to develop donor-focused materials, including newsletters, annual reports, and fundraising appeals.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the leadership team to align fundraising efforts with the organization’s strategic goals, ensuring growth and sustainability of programs and services.
- Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, communications, business, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in nonprofit development or fundraising, with proven success in securing major gifts and grants.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives for diverse audiences.
- Experience with fundraising software or donor management systems.
- Knowledge of philanthropic trends and best practices in nonprofit fundraising.
- Ability to build and sustain relationships with donors, volunteers, and community partners.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
