Position: Groundskeeper
Department: Public Works
Salary Range: $17.01 to $27.21 per hour
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

The Town of Lake Park seeks a Groundskeeper to join our Public Works Department – Grounds Maintenance division.
Under the supervision of the Grounds Maintenance Foreman, the Groundskeeper performs manual and skilled work in maintaining Town grounds, equipment, and public facilities. This position assists in various landscaping tasks and ensures the upkeep of municipal areas to maintain aesthetics, adhering to functionality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate power mowers, clippers, and other tools used in municipal maintenance.
  • Perform landscaping tasks such as mowing, trimming, edging, and pruning trees and hedges.
  • Lay sod, apply fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides as needed.
  • Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of parks and public spaces by removing litter and debris.
  • Assist with irrigation system maintenance and minor repairs.
  • Support event setup and breakdown activities.
  • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Respond to emergency call-ins, including hurricanes and other critical events.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of related experience.
  • Valid Florida Driver’s License.
  • No loss of driving privileges due to revocation, suspension, or denial of license in the past 24 months.
  • No convictions or adjudications withheld of three (3) or more moving violations in the previous 24 months.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of occupational safety rules and landscaping practices.
  • Proficiency in operating landscaping equipment and tools.
  • Ability to troubleshoot minor landscaping issues.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
Physical Requirements:
  • Heavy work requires occasional exertion of up to 100 pounds occasionally, 50 pounds frequently, and 20 pounds.
  • Required physical abilities include balancing, climbing, crouching, grasping, handling, lifting, pulling, pushing, standing, stooping, talking, and walking.
  • Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, including heat, rain, and humidity.
Work Environment:
  • Tasks are performed outdoors with exposure to adverse conditions such as dust, humidity, machinery noise, rain, and temperature extremes.
  • Compliance with all Town safety policies and procedures is required.
