Alina M. Alonso, MD
Dr. Alina Alonso, Director of the Florida Department of Health in Palm Beach County, has been serving the medically underserved since 1989. Dr. Alonso oversees the operations of one of the largest county health departments in the state. Its 720 plus employees provide a full range of primary and preventive services to seven health centers located throughout Palm Beach County. Its numerous other Public Health services include Epidemiology, Communicable Disease Control, Environmental Public Health, Nutrition, Emergency Preparedness, School Health and Community Health and the Public Health/Preventive Medicine Residency, making it a nationally recognized academic organization in a class by itself. Dr. Alonso graduated from Barry University in 1978 with a Major in Biology, a double Minor in Chemistry and Mathematics and a BS degree. She pursued her medical career as a 1984 graduate of the foreign medical school, Universidad Autonoma de Ciudad Juarez in Mexico. In New York, she served as Chief Resident in the three-year Family Practice Residency Program at St. Joseph Medical Center from 1985 to 1988. After returning home, she finished a second residency in Public Health and Preventive Medicine in 1992 at the Florida Department of Health in Palm Beach County. Since 1976 she has extensive experience managing communicable and emergent diseases from A – Z (Anthrax – Zika). She has a passion for a healthy community with equity for every resident and visitor. She is a diplomat of the American Board of Family Practice, a member of the Palm Beach County Medical Society and the National Association of County and City Health Officers, a commissioner at the Health Care District Board and member of numerous other organizations. Her favorite pastime is snorkeling and scuba diving off the Florida Keys and the Bahamas Islands with her sons Gabriel and Alex.
Mary Claire Mucenic, Ph.D.
Dr. Mucenic is the Director of Behavioral and Mental Health Services for Palm Beach County Schools. Prior to this appointment, she served the Broward County Public School District for 18 years as a school psychologist, Coordinator of Psychological Services and as the Director of Support Services for Exceptional Student Services and Learning Support. Dr. Mucenic is a nationally certified and licensed school psychologist. She has served on several university and organizational boards including the executive advisory board for Barry University’s School of Education, the Board of the Florida Association of Support Services Administrators and the Florida Association of School Psychologists Crisis Response Committee. She has also served as an adjunct professor for Barry University in the College of Arts and Sciences, the Andreas School of Business, and the Adrian Dominican School of Education. Her current professional focus is mental health and wellness, positive psychology and mindfulness. Dr. Mucenic is the proud mother of two grown children and a strong child advocate. She enjoys mentoring young professionals and developing future leaders.
Dr. David Laborde, MD, Clinical Advisor, DSS Inc. David LaBorde, M.D., M.B.A. is the CEO of Iconic Data Inc., a healthcare technology company with solutions focused in the areas of real time analytics, patient flow optimization, suicide prevention and care coordination. He is also a Senior Clinical Advisor for DSS, Inc., a software products and services company that has worked with the Department of Veterans Affairs for more than 25 years. Dr. LaBorde has over 20 years of experience in healthcare and technology and has worked with healthcare provider organizations helping them with strategy, workflow standardization, achieving transparency into their operations, and improving their quality of care and operating performance. Dr. LaBorde previously worked for McKinsey & Company where he focused on providing advisory services to healthcare provider organizations. He has an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School, an M.D. from Yale School of Medicine, a B.S. in Engineering from Georgia Tech and a Georgia Medical License.
