FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Middle School of the Arts Foundation
Establishes $25,000 COVID Arts Safety Fund

West Palm Beach, FL The Middle School of the Arts Foundation is pleased to announce the creation of a COVID Arts Safety Fund in the amount of $25,000 to benefit the arts scholars of Bak Middle School of the Arts.

Aware that there are many COVID safety measures needed specific to the arts education programs at Bak Middle School of the Arts, the Board of Directors of the Middle School of the Arts Foundation voted to establish a COVID Arts Safety fund.  The purpose of the fund is to purchase ancillary and additional items that the arts education experience at Bak would require due to the specific nature of the arts.  An example of items that may be required are clear masks, instrument bell covers, masks with Velcro slits, microphone covers, additional wipes for pianos, barres, broadcast equipment and additional hand sanitizer for high contact areas.

All eight art areas of the school will have access to the funds through a Grant Application process.  Board Chair Francine Mantyh stated, “While we have initially approved $25,000, we know the need may outweigh these funds and will continue to ask for our community’s support as we work to fill the middle income funding deficit that exists at the school.”  A non-Title 1 School in Palm Beach County, Bak relies heavily on Foundation, PTO, Business Partners, parental and community financial support to provide award-winning academic and artistic education to its nearly 1,400 middle school students each year.

In addition to the establishment of the fund, the Middle School of the Arts Foundation secured a generous donation of 1,000 individually sized hand sanitizers from Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital to provide those students returning in late September with their own personal (refillable) bottle. This will help minimize communal usage of larger bottles. As a Business Partner of Bak Middle School of the Arts, and a valued member of our greater community, the team of Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital did not hesitate to answer the call.

The Middle School of the Arts Foundation is a 501c3 organization whose mission is to raise the funding needed to provide Bak Middle School of the Arts with the resources, opportunities, and experiences required for the highest quality arts enriched education.  To make a donation in support of our mission, or for additional information, please visit www.msoafoundation.org.
